MARTIN LUTHER KING JR MURAL PROCESS
This Mural Tribute was painted by Emanuel WIsdom and Myself over the course of 14 days. When I approached the Building owner for permission to paint this wall he told me he wanted the mural to represent UNITY, I could think of no purer symbol of unity than MLK. Once the project started to take shape I immediately contacted Emanuel for assistance. We have collaborated several times in the past, always by combing his masterful typography with my illustrative style. After reading through dozens of quotes we decided on the one you see before you; “I have decided to stick with love, hate is to great a burden to bear” - MLK . This timeless message of love and acceptance is of paramount importance in our current climate. Manny and myself set out to create a mural that would uplift and inspire.
The response form the community has been so overwhelming positive, I can’t thank you all enough for support. This mural was a collaborative effort, I could not have painted this without the help of my assistants, huge thanks to Joy zavada, jaimie bamberger, zach yahn, and jimmy lowe. I would also like to thank Ryan Hnat of North East Art Project for the support, and Rose of Scranton tomorrow for helping make this possible, and for organizing this event.
